MPIO Policy to be used for VPLEX Virtual devices
Hi All,
We will be doing migration from 3PAR array to VMAX3/VNX2 using VPLEX. Also we will be using Microsoft native
MPIO for path management. ( There is no EMC Powerpath )
My question is which MPIO policy we have to use for VMAX3 virtual devices and VNX2 virtual devices.
-Failover only, Failback, Round Robin, Round Robin with subset, Weighted path.
I know EMC recommend Adaptive - Policy for VPLEX virtual volumes for VMAX3 devices.
But what about MPIO policy for VMAX3 and VNX2 virtual devices ? Any recommendation from EMC for MPIO policy to be used for vplex devices ?
Thanks !

Hi,
Check out this doc for VPLEX MPIO settings: http://www.emc.com/collateral/technical-documentation/h13547-vplex-host-multipathing-best-practices.pdf
The default of Round Robin is supported and should be OK. The other policy that could be optimal is Weighted Paths, but EMC leaves the choice of the policy up to the end user to suit their I/O needs.
