2008 r2 failover cluster (geo dispersed) with vplex metro

          so here is my conundrum:  i have a 2 node cluster (widows 2k8r2 sql 2k8) that is connected to a vmax that also utilizing vplex.  Vplex is a metro configuration, with about .445 ms latency.  We are using distributed devices as well. my alternate site is 8 miles away.  What i am looking for is what happens when the node at the primary site becomes non functional and rolls out to the alternate site. do the volumes on the storage just magically appear and read / writes magically continues after the resources come online at the alternate site?  we do not have cross connect enabled not are we capable of getting cross connect to work in our current configuration.  am i reading too much into this process?  is there something i am missing, as it seems it is just too simple.
