Vostro 7620 - HDMI 2.0 port not working up to 4K@60Hz
Vostro 7620
Hi Dell Community, I am facing some issues connecting my Dell Vostro 7620 Laptop to my new Dell S3221QS Curved 4K UHD Monitor using HDMI cable. The maximum refresh rate I can achieve at 4K (3840 x 2160 px) is 30Hz with my laptop. I checked the Vostro 7620 specifications and it states that the HDMI port version is 2.0, so it should be able to display 4K resolution at 60Hz.
NOTE: To discard any cable/monitor issue, I connected the same HDMI cable (using the same monitor input port) to my HP Probook and it worked perfectly, displaying a crispy 4K (3840 x 2160 px) image at 60 Hz. I have updated all the video card drivers and BIOS firmware trying to fix the issue without luck.
Have anyone been able to plug in a 4K TV or monitor to the Vostro 7620 HDMI port and achieve 4K at 60Hz? I wonder if the Vostro 7620 HDMI port actually meets the HDMI 2.0 standard.
Thanks for your feedback

Hi there! Is there any updates on this? Just purchased Vostro 7620 with external monitor (AOC CU34G2/BK) and I'm facing pretty similar issue. I have resolution 3440 x 1440 30 Hz and unfortunately I can't set higher refresh rate. Monitor and Intel i7-12700H states that they support such resolution with 60 / 100 Hz...

Hi, I have a case open with Dell Technical Support. Engineering team is reviewing the issue. They have already replaced my laptop's motherboard but the issue persists. I haven't been able to get 4K @60hz so far using HDMI port.
An alternative solution is to use a DisplayPort to USB-C cable or USB-C docking station that supports 4k @60 Hz. This solution worked for me.
Have a nice day
