Vostro 7620 - absolute garbage laptop - literally fell apart (other Dells are bad too)
This laptop is a complete piece of garbage. It has been overheating since day 1 and it literally just fell apart after a weekend of sitting unused on the counter.
I had to routinely wait 2 or 3 minutes for the fan to run to cool off the CPU/GPU when doing basic tasks like word processing and web surfing since the beginning. About six months ago, it reached the point where it could no longer even run the chrome or edge browsers so I had to start using Firefox.
Two weeks ago, the screen started to detach overnight while the device was not even in use. After sitting on the counter unused for three days this weekend, I found the right screen hinge had completely detached and the screen was black. Useless POS.
I bought this to replace an Inspiron that I bought in 2020 that had the screen crack and begin to fail after 18 months. A second Inspiron that I bought at the same time had its keyboard begin to fail starting around 18 months; we lost full use of several keys within 2 years, requiring an external keyboard.
The laptop screen/lid has separated or cracked on four different Dell laptops that I have purchased over the past 10 years. Not the same quality as the Dell laptop that I bought in the 90's. That 90's era laptop is built like a tank and made it through 2 years of daily use in grad school and is still going strong (Windows 3.11!). I retired three other Dell laptops from the 2000's that were still in good shape, but the hardware was simply obsolete.
Dell has gone WAAAAYYYYYY down hill in quality in the last 10 or 15 years. Always overheating and screens cracking and/or falling off.
Looking elsewhere for my replacement.

Can someone please delete this hateful comment based on one unit? And explain to the gentleman that he could've return the faulty unit. C'mon, it's a business laptop built for agencies, it has to work and be fast.

@D_009 The post you want removed should not be removed because I also had a problem with the Vostro 7620 that was loaded up with fast cpu, memory, etc..18 months old, with paid extended warranty, sitting on a desk 99% of the time and out of nowhere the plastic screen hinge cracks. I contact Dell, oh that's wear and tear, not covered and wanted $600+ to fix. My last Dell also became problematic around the 2 year mark. So what did I do. I went out and bought a different brand of laptop that I am very happy with and will never buy a dell again. I've been a life long customer, at home and at work. They had a chance to make this right but chose not to so I chose not to give them any more of my money. Various models have had hinge problems, there was even a suit settled in the U.S. for one model, etc. They are a piece of garbage and not worth what you pay for them.

You are saying Dell Dell, like it's only one model. Vostro 7620 is top notch for the price. Try Latitude series. In Germany they're the banker's standard and that tells a lot and is not easily achieved.
