Vostro 7590 + dock D3100 on ubuntu 20.04 / 22.04 (hanging issue)
Hi all !
I am having a hanging issue with my Dell Vostro 7590 running ubuntu 20.04.
I wanted to update to 22.04, but there is another Display Link issue, which does not make my docking station work properly.
So I had to stay on 20.04...
Each time when I log into my system, I have to change the audio input and output devices.
Somehow it resets every time I shut down the system. But when I change the microphone to the inbuilt one (in the list it says Digital Microphone - Canon Lake PCH cAVS) everything seems OK.
Meantime when I shift to Google Meet or Slack Huddle, start a conversation or just listen to my team mates, suddenly I hear a ticking noise in the output (no matter if it is set to the inbuilt speakers, bluetooth headphones or other output device - tested it all ...) which is a signal, that the system will hang in a few seconds. When I hear that I immidiately try to close everything gracefully and make a restart. Sometimes I make it, sometimes the system hangs, and only long pressing the power button helps to shut it down and turn on again.
I have not had those issues on Ubuntu 18.04, but the support of 18.04 is coming to an end in may...
Does anyone have a similar problem and have a solution ? Maybe different audio drivers would solve the problem ?
Unfortunately the D3100 does not have an output for the microphone ...
Does the jack in Vostro 7590 have configurable output / input ?
