Vostro 5590 power issues after fall
Vostro 5590
Hi All,
I am trying to sort out a Vostro 5590 that had a fall. I am not sure from how high etc.
Initially, when I connected power (via dell dock usb c) the power LED lit up as well as the keyboard lights. I still could not get it to turn on.
I found a suggestion to hold crtl + esc and then add power etc. That got it working. I charged the laptop to 100% and was able to reboot multiple without issue. I was able to power up from battery only and a full hardware check produced no faults.
I left the laptop for a week (turned off) and then it would not power on again. Had to do the same as above again.
I decided to pull the cmos battery to see if that would flush any gremlins from the system.
Now, I am not getting any power at all. I've tried to power on with and without the main battery. With and without the cmos battery, nothing.
I've tried to reseat all the ribbbon cables that I have access to.
I am only able to give power via the USB C port as I don't have the charger. But I've tried power via the dell Dock, USB C laptop charger outputting 65w. 120w USB C charger.
Any suggestions as to where to look next?
Thanks

Resolve the power issue first, battery, power adapter port, power adapter charger. Maybe that will automatically resolve current issue.

@Chino de Oro I didn't realise that I had a compatible dell barrel charger.
Connected it, and got the keyboard lights on again. Got the machine started with the Crtl + ESC method.
When it started up it gave the error of date/time not being set.
Started a hardware check, got an error saying charger not detected or insufficient. Switched to USB C and the error went away. The second test ran until about 1m30 left and then the PC went off.
Now I can't get anything. Will leave it for a few hours and try again.

I forgot to add, something strange was going on. When I plugged in the barrel connector, the light on charger went out.
Now that the laptop is dead again, the charger light is steady.

Certainly, there is/are issue(s) with power and that must be resolved first.
Try to avoid Ctrl + Esc method as it's for invoking BIOS recovery. If the system lose power during BIOS flash, that will bricked the motherboard.
