Vostro 5502 USB Ports Not Working
Unit is 3 years old. My son took it to school and used a wired mouse (not his). Now, the USB ports do not recognize any peripheral that we plug in (mouse, phone, external hard drive, etc). Unistalled/reinstalled the USB drivers, pulled the battery, plugged it back in (now I get an error message about a non-certified Dell battery being used) Also getting error message 43 (USB device not recognized). Not a tech guy, so please keep any solutions at the moderately technically adept level. Thanks

If you have (or use another system to prepare) a bootable Windows install drive (use the MS Media Creation tool), try booting the system from the USB drive. F12 at powerup with a bootable flash drive connected. If that works, you may have a Windows issue. If it does not, replace the system board.
