Vostro 5490 has very short battery life

Hi,

I've got a Dell Vostro 5490. i7-256gb-8gb ram. I bought it in november 2019. And 90% of the time I am using for surfing on chrome-opera and battery dies so fast. I dont expect to live like 15 hour smt but it only survives 4 hours. Is there any solution-based actions that I can take, programs/settings, or smt like that. Ps. I keep updating my bios, dell drivers and windows.

Thanks for your help in advance.

This link will help you in fixing the below issues:

  • Battery is not holding charge.
  • Battery indicator LED does not glow or blinks always.
  • Battery is not recognized by the PC.
  • Battery charge is stuck at a certain percentage.

Four hours from a 3-cell, 42 WHr battery is probably about the best you can do if you're actively using the system (screen on, with a live WiFi connection).  You can dim the screen as much as you can tolerate, but the wireless adapter being always on, you'll find that limits the battery runtime.
