Vostro 3558 RAM Upgrade to 16GB

Hello!

im trying tu upgrade my Vostro 15 RAM Upgrade to 16GB (8+8)

S/N:

Product Support page:

Datasheet:

https://dl.dell.com/topicspdf/vostro-15-3558-laptop_owners-manual_en-us.pdf

i purchased the 2 pieces of :

DDR3L 1600 CL11 от Kingston 1.35V
Model: PSD38G1600L2S

From datasheet:

Memory connector two internally accessible DDR3L connector
Memory capacity 2 GB, 4 GB, and 8 GB
Memory speed 1600 MHz
Minimum memory 2 GB
Maximum memory 16 GB

But my Laptop constantly Beeps after powering on and no BOOT.

If i placing original Micron DDR3L CL11 4GB module - it boots ok.

PSD38G1600L2S have  the same 1600Mhz and voltage 1.35v

Where is the problem?

thanks!

Thanks to all, problem solved.

Flashed BIOS with version A17 and memory status become OK. System boot ok, all 16GBs are visible.

Dell computers are fussy about memory brands. Check Crucial for Dell ram guaranteed to work--

@Mary G  is spot on about Crucial RAM. I am curious though. The part number you listed is for Patriot RAM not Kingston. And if you did use Kingston RAM was it their Value RAM line?

Im sorry, its my mistake:

Ipurchased 2x8Gb PSD38G1600L2S

Its a Patriot Signature Line memory.

One idea is to update BIOS to latest one, mine is 2016 old...

Possibly the BIOS update may help but I tend to think not. This page has a number of users that had trouble with this RAM so it may not be solely a Dell problem. After doing some research on the Internet I was confused since I have seen sites list this as DDR3 and others list it as DDR3L. If it is indeed DDR3 it would not be compatible. All in all if you do a BIOS update with no improvement then you have to be convinced it is RAM that is not compatible and again as @Mary G has stated.

thanks, according to Patriot Official site link:

Prtriot RAM datasheet

its a real DDR3L, so must be compatible for type.

The only option is to replace the existing drive with a 2.5" SATA SSD -- there's just one slot in the system, and no support for M.2 or mSATA drives.

Any standard 2.5" SATA SSD will work fine.

@Seque Did you install 2Rx(2nd Rank Memory) Ram in your Dell Vostro 3558 Laptop? I have a doubt that this model support 2nd rank memory rams. Please let me know if I should buy 1Rx type or 2Rx type memory sticks.
