Vostro 3515 display turns black instead of turning off
I don't know what caused this or how to fix it. For some time now instead of turning off when inactive, the display turns to a glowing black screen and it stays like that. The laptop is still running so it's not actually turning off. Along with that, the brightness buttons F6 and F7 also stopped working at the same time. This happened out of nowhere, other than that I don't have any problems with the display or any other buttons. Any help would be greatly appreciated

It's possible that your laptop is experiencing a power management issue, which is causing the display to stay on even when it's not in use.
Firstly, you can try adjusting your power settings in Windows to see if that resolves the issue. Go to "Control Panel" and then "Power Options". Make sure that the "Turn off the display" setting is set to a reasonable amount of time (e.g. 10 minutes), and that the "Put the computer to sleep" setting is also set appropriately.
If that doesn't work, you can try updating your graphics driver to the latest version. Go to the website of your laptop's manufacturer and look for the latest graphics driver for your laptop model. Download and install it, and see if that helps.
Regarding the issue with the brightness buttons not working, it's possible that the driver for the keyboard or the function keys may be outdated or corrupted. You can try updating your laptop's keyboard driver or function key driver to the latest version, which may help to resolve the issue.
If neither of these solutions works, it's possible that there may be a hardware issue with your laptop's display or keyboard. In that case, you may need to contact a repair technician for further assistance.

The main cause of the Dell black screen issue is a bad connection between your graphics drivers and your operating system. Another possible cause is a display adapter driver update issue. You may also run into a Black Screen of Death after system updates or installations, which you may need a reinstallation of Windows.
