Vostro 3500 Audio issue
Good day, hope all is well.
I'm having trouble with my Dell laptop sound, not just this dell but another Vostro 3500 and then sometimes with newer models like the Vostro 3520, usually when the newer models have a audio issue that is still under ProSupport then a Dell technician replaces the motherboard because of an audio chip overheat issue.
The issue I'm having is the audio doesn't work, then I open device manager, no audio device found, restart the laptop and then the audio is back.
I have even installed a clean version of Windows 11, updated drivers and bios, it works for a while and then stops working where the audio icon on the taskbar has a red "X" on it.
Downloaded the drivers from Dell website for the model but doesn't work.
Realtek audio drivers doesn't work so I have to install the Cirrus drivers, which is fine.
I also disabled windows driver updates so it won't interfere when it is working, but the next day turning on the PC it doesn't work.
Or the sound does work but gives a buzz sound when playing something.
I booted with an Ubuntu USB stick and the sound immediately worked without the buzz sound as well.
It also doesn't matter if it's Windows 10, because that is from where the problem started when I formatted to Windows 11.
This isn't the first time it happened and it's always just after ProSupport has ended.
Bluetooth speakers does work even when the red "X" is on the audio icon on the taskbar.
If someone can help me out with this or maybe have another driver to test that isn't the recommended one on the driver support page for the laptop model, that would be great.
Thank you.
Please see attached photos and video of buzz sound.

Sorry to say that the chip is damaged. I have an Inspiron 3501 exactly same issue appeared on buzzing tried ubuntu, kali Linux, windows 10; except windows 10 all other OS recognized the chip and had good communication for almost 3 to 4 minutes then Buzzing sound will appear, Similarly windows 11 and windows 10 plays sound after a restart clean audio, but after laptop being in sleep / Idle the audio will disappear and shows x icon in taskbar and in device manager as unknown device.
And after 1 week My chip completely died, I had given the laptop for repair which made it worse by entering manufacturing Mode and the technician never entered my service tag or its manufacturer details to fill up while programming bios as he thought it was due to BIOS problem. never going back to the technician as he messed with my laptop, broken clips, Body scratches etc..
Mine also comes with Cirrus CS8409 + CS4L42 codec, it's a known issue for these models. Solution to fix is only by swapping motherboard and I will say it is not worth this will definitely reappear after normal use. The Realtek chip of the same doesn't have these issues.
Surprising thing is while I was restarting my laptop multiple times for continuous period of time such as driver installing, reinstalling made my internal speakers fry to avoid further damage I disconnected it and started to use headphones by a USB sound card.
This is not an issue of speaker it's the chip responsible here.
NOT GOING WITH A NEW DELL, NEVER.

@Fadidell Thanks for the reply, yeah I also though the chip might be damaged just so weird how it worked for 3 years and suddenly gives issues, while it is working and then not working (overheating probably), we had a bunch of laptops under ProSupport that the technician replaced motherboards and then no complaints afterwards, sorry that you had so much trouble with the replace.
The aux also doesn't work but Bluetooth does work so I'll get earbuds for the client having issues.
Take care!
