Vostro 3400, turn off touchpad click sound?

Question

I just purchased a Vostro 3400 (14') and would like to turn the 'click' sound off when I press on the touchpad. Noisy when someone else is trying to sleep in the room. How do I turn this sound off - or mute it. Thanks!

Update 9/15/21 =We have had the video reviewed internally. Just following up to inform you that there are no issues with the Touchpad and it is working as designed. The only way to stop the clicking sound is to not use the Touchpad. Disable it and use an external USB mouse.DELL-Cares

Come on dell support can't you help your customers instead of replying with your standard canned replies. You have been posting these types of replies for years and always the same thing at least change it.

first get the Dell Service Tag number to ascertain warranty. Once received, the case is then assigned to a DELL-Cares agent. Dell-Admin>

Hello,

You need to provide more detail info like what os you are using if windows 10 and what have you tried. Try this if you are using windows 10.

Go to Settings.
Click on Personalization, then Themes.
Select Mouse pointer settings.
Then, click on the last tab called Device settings (might be different from other computers) and again on Settings.
A new window will pop-up with the Pointer options. Just uncheck Tapping.

If you want to turn it off completely, go  to Device Manager > locate the touchpad in the list > right click and select Disable device. If you want to turn on the click sound, check in Control Panel > Mouse and Sound option to see if there is one for Gateway touchpad.
