Vostro 1550, Battery cannot be loaded

Battery of my Vostro 1550 can not be loaded recently even with the power cable connected.

I've tried with a new battery, but still this problem is there.

Battery loading status is going down dayly little by little.

I guess, it might have something to do with BIOS or configuration.

Does any of you have any idea ?

Thank you very much.

Now the battery is charged up to 100%

What I did was removing the battery and the connector for a while to release static electricity, and cleaning the connector and the jack.

Now I can use this Vostro further.

Mother board change is no option for me for this more than 10 years old PC

At starting I get the warning that AC adapter is not suitable and battery might not be charged.

But AC adapter seems to be working as the display brightness is changed by connecting or disconnecting the AC adapter.

Batterie cannot be charged.

It looks like either BIOS or HW issue because even with a new battery the situytion is the same.

If the battery cannot be charged the first question would be is it a genuine Dell battery that you installed? If it is and will not charge then either the adapter is not working (try it in another Dell laptop), or the DC jack is defective (check the centre pin to see if it is broken or bent), or the charging circuit on the MB is at fault.

I think, I can try a new AC adapter.

But I cannot find the adapter N6M8J for Vostro 1550.

Does anybody know any compatible AC adapter number which is available in Germany ?

Here I'd like to give further information or investigation.

With battery replaced eh situation does not change. --> no battery issue

WIth AC adapter connected battery charging level is kept. for example 80%. --> no bending pin etc.

WIth AC adapter disconnected battery level is reduced, for example to 78%.

After AC adapter connection again chargiong level is kept again to 78% this time.

Once the battery level went down to below 10% without AC adapter connection, and the charging worked to go up to 100%.

Then again the same situation above comes.

Charging level is always kept with AC adapter connected, and charging is started if the charging level goes down to below 10%.

Thius I have a dobt on BIOS.
