vostro 1500, integrated display completely black but not damaged

Vostro 1500

Vostro 1500

Hi I tried to replace the CPU of my old vostro1500, with a t9300.
after replacing I start the pc but the display remain balck. After some test I connect external diplay and I could see that the pc work. The proble is the integrated display.

I have one more vostro 1500 that not work, so I tried to switch the GPU card, but not working...
I tried ti switch the display, but not working.
So the promle is not the GPU or the display....

Someone have some ideas, why the display not work??

There are a couple of possibilities.

Check with a bright flashlight -- do you see even a dim display on the screen?  If not, the screen needs to be replaced.

If you do, that points to either the backlight (or inverter, which powers it), the power circuit to the inverter, or the video card itself.

Any replacement of the display or mainboard is probably going to cost more than the entire system is worth (figure that to be $50 in working condition), so repair is not going to be an economically viable option.

Thanks, for your advice.
Really I did a display test pressing at the same time start button and "D" keyboard button and the test was OK.
The display went completely red, than green, etc... but at the end went black and nothig else... can't see anymore.
I have to connect external display to use the pc.
As I wrote I also tried to change the video card but the problem is the same.

I know that the best thing is bought I new laptop, but I would like to understandwat is happened!

If the display is OK during self-test, including the backlight, the GPU has failed.

And yes, they can fail in such a way that an internal screen shows nothing while an external one works;  it's not all that uncommon and this is after all, a 15 year old system that has likely been used more with the internal display than the external monitor.

many thanks.
I'm not sure that the problem is the video card because, as i wrote, I tried to change with an other video card from another system, but I can't test the video cards in other system so I'm not certainty that they work. Actually is very strange that two video card have the same problem at the same moent, but... I don't have other solution!
