vostro 15 3510 webcam problem: its image goes purple-ish and then stops working

hi!

got a vostro 5 3510 laptop and its webcam is behaving weirdly. 

as im using microsoft teams, google meet or other app/program that uses the webcam, it starts fine, then its colors go "shades of purple" and, if in prolonged use, stops working completely.

ran the dell support diagnosis and it has found nothing. i tested the webcam in different locations (house, office, outdoors) to make sure it aint my room affecting it somehow or infra-red or other stuff: results are the same.
