Vostro 1014, no WiFi after new install Windows 7
Hi guys, hope someone can help. I had to reload win 7 (yes I know, it's not supported anymore) I have no wifi after the reload. I cannot do an update as it is not supported. Having checked the device manager, there is no wifi shown and also missing is the Base system device and the Network Controller. I've looked on the dell website at the drivers but none are available to download for my laptop. Can anyone help please? I need step by step assistance if possible as I'm not a techy.

* Go to the Vostro 1014 drivers page
* Change Operating system to Windows 7
* Click CATEGORY
* Click Show all
* Install the Intel Chipset driver. Restart when done
* New hardware will be found on restart
* Install the applicable Network, Ethernet & Wireless driver. Restart when done

Hi Chris, followed the instructions as detailed above, downloaded - Intel PM45 Express Chipset Family, GM45 Express Chipset Family, PM55 Express Chipset Family, Cantiga Chipset, v.9.1.1.1014, A00
Unzipped and installed, turned off and restarted no new hardware found! Checked devices still no base system device or network controller showing. I can find the download and keep unzipping etc but nothing? Have I downloaded the correct drivers as I downloaded the only thing that has chipset in the title as you said?

If I troubleshoot the laptop it states Base system Device Missing.

Update: managed to get the wifi working but still have the issue of Base System Device Missing. Can you help please?
