Upgrade Vostro 3510 Storage
Hello!
Could I, just like on the Inspiron 3511 laptop, add an additional 2.5 inch hdd/ssd SATA drive?
Is it included cable connection and rack?

Storage options below -- if the system was shipped with only an M.2 drive, the hardware for mounting a 2.5" drive will almost certainly be absent and you'll need to order it from Dell.
2.5-inch 5400 rpm, hard drive
SATA
upto 2 TB
M.2 2230 solid-state drive
PCIe NVMe 3x4
upto 1 TB
M.2 2280 solid-state drive
PCIe NVMe 3x4
upto 2 TB

@ejn63 it is not clear from your answer if one can add the hard drive and a 1 and a 2TB SSD and is any additional hardware besides the SSD required? Seems to me it would be nice to have a link to the Dell page for the hardware.

Well my two had the hardware carrier and cable, But you need to know which battery you have. The 41W leaves room for the 2.5" drive but I've read that the larger 50W doesn't. PS, there is like only 9mm in height, so I couldn't install a 1Tb HDD I had left over and I'm not sure you can fit a 2 Tb HDD in the Vostro 3510. Many of the webpages for SSD and HDDs don't give the thickness. I just want the extra space to carry the 1.5 Tb of my music, and pictures experiment log files and design files without having to carry an external memory. The M2 SSD is much faster, read write rates and no latency for the disk to position the head and rotate to the beginning of the sector, so you want programs and operating systems on that SSD C drive. Not all SSDs have the same transfer rates. To operate at very high speed, check the read/write rates of SSD. It may be necessary to drag or copy a large file off an HDD if you want to make many changes to a file on an HDD, you might want to move it on onto the SSD and put it back when your finished or go all SSD. I believe the hard drives pull more current shortening the battery life so you may want to dismount the drive when not using it. The HDD will be slower when checking for viruses and checking for duplicates. I've had very bad luck with Toshiba hard drives as of late, where without any warning, they just fail and loose all your files. Is anyone else having better luck?
