Latest WD19 firmware not working with Vostro 7620

Vostro 7620

Vostro 7620

I'm experiencing some strange behavior with the latest firmware of the Dell Dock WD19

DellDockFirmwarePackage_WD19_WD22_HD22_Series_01.00.09.exe

after installing the firmware the 2 external monitors attached to the dock randomly turn blank for a few seconds

i updated all the driver/firmware/bios to latest version

this is clearly a firmware bug because it happened with 2 different wd19 docks. they worked fine until being updated

inexplicably dell does not provide the older firmware to rollback it

sorry for the screenshot quality, i did not expect to publish it

just to recap for other users:

i resolved updating the dock firmware to version  01.00.32, 01.00.16 released on 25 may 2023

and updated the bios of my laptop (vostro 7620) to version 1.13.0, 13 june

then i applied the registry hack below and resetted the dock pressing for 1 minute the power button without the power adapter or the laptop attached

registry hack (reddit post):

Alternatively, creating a .reg file will automate adding the registry keys. Just open notepad and copy the highlighted text into it, then save as "Disable_MSTDSC.reg". Execute the file on systems needing the change.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0000] "DPMstDscDisable"=dword:00000002

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0001] "DPMstDscDisable"=dword:00000002

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0002] "DPMstDscDisable"=dword:00000002

Which WD19 docks do you use exactly? There are two options: 180W and 130W

180W

anyway 180W and 130W are equal... it changes only the power adapter

the new firmware (01.00.32, 01.00.16 released on 25 may 2023) did not resolve the issue

I just want to add that it happens with a Dell Latitude 5440 on an Anker PowerExpand 13 in 1 USBC dock.
It still happens on our WD19TB, WD19DC, WD19S and WD22TB4 docks too.
Only occurs with 5440, 5431, 5560, and 5570 laptops.

in the last couple of days, after updating the bios of the laptop  (version 1.13.0, 13 june), applying the registry hack and resetting the docking station: it seems that the problem disappeared.

I did not use the laptop for extensive hours so i'm not sure the problem is resolved.

i'll test for the next days and report back

We have this same issue in our environment.  Dell laptops connected to the WD 19TB docking stations attached to various models of monitors.  Screens go blank randomly.  I've tried everything and nothing resolves the issue.  I have Windows 11 22H2, latest drivers installed for windows and latest drivers for the dock are installed too.

This issue has been going on for years with no resolutions.  Please fix this Dell, please!  I get complaints every day just like you do.

Where can I find info on the registry hack?

Have you been able to verify that your recent firmware update, WD19 Dock reset and registry update?  We're deploying new Latitude 7430s using our existing WD19 docks. The 7430 users just started reporting this issue and we just started using Command Update to do driver updates on our devices.
