Dell Vostro 3500 series laptop Hinges

Hi Dell

I would like to raise a concern wrt to the build quality of the hinges on the Dell Vostro 3500 series laptops, in our environment we have deployed many of the devices and are now very concerned about the longevity of this device. How can Dell build such a low-quality device and deploy to market. I fell that these devices hinges will need to be replaced as the devices break, my concern is when the warranty runs out then we are going to pick up even further issues which Dell will then wash their hands and request that we pay for the replacement. Is there anything that Dell can do to assist us with this model of device as we are receiving issues weekly with damaged hinges. If i can get a reply from Dell would be really appreciated.

These systems were desgined to sell at as low a price as possible.  They're also from 2020-2021, making them 4-5 years old and in a business or organization, likely near or over the retirement age -- meaning your organization should start planning for replacements.

Dell won't repair them out of warranty (and note that even with a business-class Latitude system, probably more suitable for a large user environment, after 4-5 years the systems are in line for replacement).

The Vostro line is basically consumer-grade Inspiron with different cosmetics -- they're designed for a few years of use and then for replacement.

@ejn63 Thanks for getting back to me, just strange that you say these machines are now close to be replaced when we still have a big batch that is still under warranty from Dell, and we on occasions need to call Dell to come out, asses and repair the damaged hinges, not what i expected from Dell with the build of these machines and the reputable name of Dell in the industry. Replacement of machines in 3-4 years all depends, and because of the build of these machines we are going to have to look at other brands to replace these machines.

If you do, avoid consumer-grade notebooks from the others (HP/Acer/Lenovo/ASUS).  They're all similarly built.
