Dell Vostro 16 5630 Touchpad Problem under Fedora Linux

Dear community,

sporadically my touchpad is not working correctly. Not smoothly responding to touch inputs. Mouse cursor is wobbling sometimes.

I already performed all related troubleshooting guides on Dell Support sites.

I'm working on Linux Fedora 41 (Kernel 6.13.5-200.fc41.x86_64) with KDE Plasma 6.3.

External (bluetooth) mouse is working fine.

This issue is really annoying for me because I absolutely cannot work with this laptop anymore and this issue began just after end of warranty. Laptop is just 2 years old.

Can anybode help me with this issue?

Thank you

The question is whether it's hardware or software.  Have there been any recent OS updates?

Note that Dell doesn't support any Linux on this model -- certainly not Fedora Core.  Do you have a way to install the original Windows OS on the system to verify the problem exists (or doesn't) under Windows?

@ejn63

I'm quite sure it is a hardware issue.

The problem also existed under Windows (before I switched to Fedora).

What helped for some weeks: I disconnected and reconnected the touchpad from the laptop's mainboard. Did this 2-3 times.

Where can I purchase the respective touchpad. Could not find any spare parts for this laptop.

I suspect it's the same part (except for color) used in the Inspiron 16 5630, which is basically the same system.
