Dell Ultrasharp 27 4K USB-C Monitor
I have a Dell U2412M monitor (that contains the Displayport) and I have been for the past 2 weeks trying to connect it to my Dell Vostro 3501, which does not have a usb-c port, so Ive bought me a USB-a port to USB-c but it does not work. I have then decided to buy me a Displayport-HDMI cable to connect it to the computer but this monitor is hardly wanting to connect. I then used a friends computer `macbook` that has the USB-c port and it worked effortlessly.
What should I do in this situation, should I get me another monitor with the conventional HDMI port or get me a computer that has the USB-c port?

Vostro 3501 HDMI out port --> HDMI to DVI cable --> U2412M DVI in port
