What in the heck is "China HDD Protection"?
I just helped my cousin setup 2 new Dell Vostro 3910 towers for his shop and during the setup I noticed that Windows 11 complained about "Standard hardware security not supported". This made me do some digging. Under the computer name in the About Your PC device specifications, the device name is proceeded by "Dell Vostro 3910 - China HDD Protection".
What in the heck is that? Did he buy PCs that were supposed to be sold in China? What can we do to get his hardware security enabled and supported? Thanks!

it is a bios update option for China only.
Dell HDD China protection is a remote PC protection and management tool that allows user to use a master PC to quickly deploy OS images to other client PCs and manage/ protect remote client PCs without a need for an extra server (the master PC plays the server role). When installing system board, technicians must refer to the label for China HDD Protection information on the back of the side cover, to determine if the customer has purchased China HDD protection and set the option accordingly in Service Menu of Manufacturing Mode (SMMM).

not sure but a Dell technician might try putting on the motherboard service jumper pin and boot the pc into manufacturing mode and see if there is an option in SMMM to uncheck china had protection.
or you can call up Dell tech support if still within warranty since this is a recent model.

I also have this situation on my new Dell purchased from Amazon. I have installed Lenox OS and I cannot find my serial number in Bios so I can get warranty if I need it. There also is no "Service Tag" on the unit only a small sticker with some identifiers for the type of unit maybe but they do not look like a serial number. It's weird that all I can get is
"Vostro-3910-china-HDD-Protection" on the Lenox terminal.
