Vostro 470 upgrade for 3 monitors

Hi all,

I would like to upgrade my old Vostro 470 so that it can run 3 monitors (multiple displays: extend desktop...). I've researched and found mixed answers in regards that it can or can't be done. I saw that the NVIDIA GT640 was recommended and would work with the original 350W power supply but do not know which type/brand specifically to purchase - since there are quite a few with different types of ports (DVI, HDMI, VGA) and certain spatial requirements. Would anyone please point me in the right direction to be able to accomplish this, if possible?! Or if anything else is recommended to be upgraded in the process? Thanks!!

Specs are Intel Core i5-3450 CPU @ 3.10Ghz, 32GB Ram, 64-bit OS, 1TB HDD, Win 10 Pro

I would recommend

  • Three mini DisplayPort 1.4
  • Connectors
  • DisplayPort with Audio
  • NVIDIA nView® Desktop Management Software
  • HDCP 2.2 Support

Thanks for the response, it is much appreciated. Would you happen to know if the Quadro P400 requires an upgrade to the current 350W power supply? Also, will it fit inside the Vostro 470 tower or will it require modification?
