Vostro 470, DDR3-RAM 1600 MHz vs 1866 MHz, 1.35v vs. 1.5v
Crucial advertises for example 8GB DDR3-1866 UDIMM as compatible, but it seems Vostro 470 is limited to 1600 MHz? Will the 1866 MHz RAM be downgraded to 1600 MHz? Then I suppose it's better to buy 1600 @ CL11 than 1866 @ CL13? Or will my Vostro 470 take advantage of the 1866 MHz?
All Crucial configurations run at 1,35v, but in this forum I read about 1,5v as necessary?

Kind regards and many thanks!

Welcome to the Dell Community @DerLars
Yes the DDR3-1866 will be downgraded to 1600MHz.
1.35v ram will work just fine in a 1.5v system.
1.5v ram most of the time will not work in a 1.35v system.
If you intend to "Overclock" your ram then we would need one of the other experts to comment on that???
I would think that DDR3-1866 at 1.5 volts would give you more leeway to "Overclock" the ram???
Since I have never tried to "Overclock" memory before I am just speculating.
Best regards,
