Vostro 460, upgrade CPU?

On that 8-9 yr old model it would be a waste of money even if you could. Think about upgrading memory and/or hard drive instead. Better still, put the money towards a new computer.

the H67 chip set will only allows gen2,  gen 3,  just that 1 chip alone on any PC on earth with it.

then bios , then what Dell allows for watts and last what  the mobo can do BW.

uses Sandy Bridge based Intel Core i5 / i7 processors. only. and Ivy bridge some. 3770.

95watt maybe with right heatsink, not 65watt HS no way.

the unknowns are, what gen 3 it runs (never all),  and not too many watts and BIOS ALLOWS.

1,2,3 and if there are any BW limits or clock limits..... IDK , this is not documented at dell, no true spec.

like say ASUS Z270 prime, clear specs.

answer 2, vastly more easy,  why not read what others did, the 40million others.

but gee, 1/2 way down that pate is the 3770, clear as day.  see?
