Vostro 420 Orange light

I had a power outage which fried the power supply. I replaced the PS with a good used one. The machine worked but would not boot. I replaced the Motherboard with a brand new one and replaced that. I plugged the unit back in, the fan runs, but I have a solid orange light on the front of the PC and of course, nothing happens. I used the original hard drive that was in when the power outage occurred. Thanks

A solid amber indicates a fault condition including the PSU. Assuming the PSU and MB are good (are you certain especially about the PSU) then it is very possible that the HDD was damaged by the surge. If so it could be causing PSU or MB problems. I would try another HDD even a small second hand known good drive. Also unplug everything from the MB except the PSU connections. See if you get any response from the system. If so then try plugging in components one at a time until an error occurs. Step by step trouble shooting is the only way to narrow down the cause. Are you using the same RAM? It could be that the RAM was damaged by the surge. You have to narrow down the culprit.

JOcean is correct.

just want to point out this is a LGA775 platform motherboard. Even after you get a brand new old stock mobo, try replace cmos battery w a brand new CR2032, and clear cmos setting by reset cmos RTCRST jumper on mobo.
