Vostro 3910 speaker popping
I have a new under-warranty Vostro 3910 desktop PC with a problem mentioned on this forum but with no solutions posted, so I would like to see if anyone might know of a solution.
Whenever the PC goes to sleep or reboots, 2-3 loud pops are heard on the speakers. The problem is not a show-stopper except for the fact that the PC is in the room where an infant naps, and we don't want her waking up because of the PC going to sleep.
I have updated the Cirrus Logic audio driver manually, and BIOS and all other drivers using Dell Command Update. I have tried replacing the speakers with simple headphones, in both the front and rear audio jacks. The pop is much less loud through the headphones than with speakers with a sub-woofer, but the behavior is the same, so it's not an issue with my speakers.
The pop does NOT occur when powering up from Off to the pre-boot (i.e. BIOS) environment, or from the pre-boot environment, rebooting, to the pre-boot environment, again.
There is no pop if the PC boots to Windows from a powered off state.
If I am logged into Windows and reboot, there are 2 pops prior to seeing the Dell splash-screen, and one pop after.
Going from logged on to Windows to either Sleep or power off, there are 2 pops.
Thoughts please?
