Vostro 3670, video card replacement
Hello,
I've got a Vostro 3670 (i3-8100, 4GB RAM, GeForce GT 710, 290w), and would like to replace my current video card with GTX 1050 Ti.
Is it possible to do? Will it work?
Thanks.

Hi there,
The tested video card for Vostro 3670 are listed below, any other upgrade apart from the list is not recommended, as it can cause damage to the system hardware as well as compatibility issues.

GTX cards are made by 10 companies, even Nvidia.
NO OS stated, windows 10 or Linux what?
no card stated. they make many version of the 1050 (my TI only uses up to 75watts) so that it works in any PCI-express x16 slot (the slot 1 is it top,in most PC)
wattages is first, some card use 300 watts all by it self, not yours that is the GTX high water mark.
Some PCs only have a weak 200 watt PSU , not sure yours, but I AWAYS read the PSU sticker to see what is there, for sure.
GeForce GT 710, 290w (what does this mean) my guess, the card now or chip there, and PSU watts.
??? the 710 only uses 19 watts max. tiny.
first of all it has to fit, and the first thing is that, if the card is too long or too high it can NEVER fits. (no hammers allowed)
then the wattage rating. of the card to see if you have enough PSU power to run the PC and the new card.
75watt yes , 120w no.(IMO)
next time post the full model number of your card, better yet the full tag on the card with all numbers on it.
GPUs are sold in grades, just like CPUs at Intel and Diamonds, and for the same reasons.
what is hard here is there are grades of the GPU chip , and many makers of the card and Memory sizes and more.
if you read the wiki, it states (TPD)
75
(Retail
up to
120)
EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti SSC GAMING ACX 3.0, 04G-P4-6255-KR, 4GB GDDR5, DX12 OSD Support (PXOC)
see this card? (sold at newegg)
finding there TPD spec;. is like pulling teeth, only they say 300watt min, PSU needed. but no TPD
Nvida actual does tell TPD for sure
but if you look on the card, there is a 6 pin AUX jack (ATX12v) a jack or only the 6 pin PCB pads and no jack.
that tells you this card is 75watts missing, if the jack is there real that tells you it may need 120watts all by itself
ok? (1050 ti or any 1050, all have a spec, )
IF this is pre-PURCHASE question, then look for the jack 6 pin molex on the card, .
it is sad that most sellers do not show top view or rear view so you can see that dang jack there, or missing
nor tell the TPD, actual max , (full load Furmark load)
My dell uses only 36watts, @ idle an 84 CPU watts + chips set and 2x 3TB hdd (24watts each and 1 SSD(nill) uses lots more. about 150watts (no GPU ) add new GPU and that is 225watts, on a 290w PSU is marginal.
see what I did there?, I did a full power budget for the PSU,, I have and AC line cord power monitor too..
there is my comments on ADDIN GPU cards.
1: fits, not too high, or long. (one guy here cut the drive cage to fit, yah and is pop riveted in.... yah.)
2 :TPD is good, for your PSU. actual PSU in PC, mine I upgraded to 550watts.
3: drivers for your OS? available. , for this card, non stated what OS you run (w10 SURE0
most will run turned on, at idle use very few watts but when you load it up, gaming or whatever, then it crashes.
here is the 120watt 1050Ti, got this card, there are many , try to post exact models full p/n like I did above.
