Vostro 3470, upgrading WiFi to 5GHz

I always recommend removing the internal card and using Edimax-EW-7811 AC600 USB adapter.

Plug and play without needing drivers with windows 8 or 10.

You DO Have to upgrade your Router However to take advantage of the increase in speed if its not already 802.11 AC Dual Band.

any will work . PCI-e with external antennas best,

no distance to your router stated, nor walls.

5GHz hates walls, use free Insidder.exe and learn that, see 5G slow down as you  walk away from the router.

wow fast. and walls super bad.

dont get me wrong 2 band are best (at the least),  with the correct router.

PCE- card, with antenna's and even shelf top antenna works better, up high is better.

USB wifi will be weak if no seen antenna,but I assume you are like 50ft from the router?, if  6ft why not use Ethernet.  There are vast choices here, usb/pci-e.

I have no idea what you have now.

at all,

the home size, how big, what AP's do you have 1 or 2 or more. (And there locations, eg. floor plans?)

what routers. what extenders.

all that.   nor distances from one part to the next.

all that maters, with WIFI its radio. so matters big time and for SPEED.

check out , wifi mesh yet,  read up on  MESH see if that  solves now and future needs.
