Vostro 3250, no post

HI to everyone, i've got a Dell Vostro 3250 that doesn't start up. When I try to power on it, white led lights on but after some seconds, it powers off and restarts indipendently. It loops in this way. It starts to happen from a DELL Update, but my work colleague doesn't remember if it has been a BIOS Update or not. I tried to clear CMOS, unplug HDD, RAM, ODD but it didn't resolve. Moreover, i tried to do a BIOS recovery (https://www.dell.com/support/article/it/it/itdhs1/sln300716/opzioni-di-ripristino-del-bios-su-un-pc-o-tablet-dell?lang=it) but when i hold CTRL and ESC, the procedure doesn't start. If I put an USB with the downloaded BIOS converted in .rcv, after holded CTRL and ESC, led starts blinking 3 times amber and 4 times white. I found a table in internet and this combination meaning that the BIOS image were found but it is corrupted. I tried also to put an older BIOS version but without success. What i may try to do first i will put it in the trash? Thanks to everyone.

IF the BIOS had been updated, BIOS recovery 1 should work.

Two possibilities, (1) There was no BIOS update, (2) There was a BIOS update but the recovery procedure will not work and in that case the motherboard will require replacement.

Thanks for reply. I didn't find the "BIOS recovery 1" procedure, but only the "2" and "3". It's the same procedure or it changes?

The Dell documentation (at least the English version) does not State "1" however this appears to be Recovery method 1:

How do I initiate BIOS Recovery on a Dell desktop or all-in-one PC?

  1. Restart the computer.

  2. Press and hold the CTRL key + ESC key on the keyboard until the BIOS Recovery page appears.

  3. On the BIOS Recovery screen, select Reset NVRAM (if available) and press the Enter key. Select Disabled and press the Enter key if you wish to save the current BIOS settings.

  4. Select Recover BIOS and press the Enter key to start the recovery process.

Anything.

If I try to hold CTRL + ESC while it is starting up, nothing appens. It is rebooting in loop. I can hear ODD and HDD starting to "move".

If i try to insert an USB with downloaded BIOS (renamed in BIOS_IMG.rcv from .exe), it flashes 3 times amber and 4 times white.

I think it's so crazy that the BIOS is corrupted because while it was doing DELL updates, AC supply wasn't lost.

HDD is good, i tested it in another PC.

PSU could be involved in this? Or these are classic signs of corrupted bios?

Thanks.
