Vostro 260s, Xeon Server CPU compatible?

hi,

I'm new here and  bit of a dummy, but would it be possible to run an Xeon Server CPU in my Vostro Core i3 that has an 1155 socket?

I've been wanting to upgrade to an i5 for some time, but being a tight fisted 74 year old on State Pension is a factor!

I discovered the Xeon's after hours of Googling and the server versions are cheaper than i5's on ebay. Any help much appreciated, and I don't mind getting kicked in the backside!

Genuine Dell GDG8Y, M5DCD, MIH61R Inspiron 620s would not take xeon out of the box.  And I do not know if the microcode for the multiple cores and turbo boost works or not.

At a minimum you would have to cut the ears from the socket because XEON cpus will be blocked from going into the socket 1155 H2 .

LGA 1155 has 1155 protruding pins to make contact with the pads on the processor. The pins are arranged in a 40×40 array with a 24×16 central void and additional 61 omitted pins (two adjoining the central void, six in each of the four corners, and 35 in groups around the perimeter), yielding the 1600 − 384 − 61 = 1155 pin count. Processors for LGA 1155 and LGA 1156 sockets are not compatible with each other since they have different socket notches. To get around this people cut the notches off.

Socket 2011
Socket 1366
Socket 1155
Socket 1156
Socket 775
