Vostro 260 Ethernet Controller Network Adapter Gone
Hi
I have a Vostro 260 and all of a sudden yesterday the internet just went off
I looked into the issue and when looking for the Network Adapter it is not showing, not even when making it unhidden. It did have the Microsoft Kernel one.
In other components the Ethernet controller has a yellow exclamation mark through it.
I have tried to reinstall drivers but nothing seems to work. When I tried to install the drivers on from the Dell website it didn't work,
I have been running Windows 10 on it for a while now.
Any help would be very much appreciated

We tried reaching you on a private message asking for the Service Tag number to ascertain the warranty but did not receive a response. Please feel free to reply to the private message whenever you are available.

This model is not supported by Dell for Windows 10. You are stuck with whatever Win 10 supports. As Win 10 updates versions (20H2 is current) support for a lot of older hardware has been discontinued. This is a 2011 era machine so lucky its still working at all.
First thing to try, as it is listed in Device Manager, with a yellow error, uninstall this in the Device Manager and then reboot (restart) and see if its detected and reinstalled. If still no luck, check the Setup (BIOS) to see if its detected there. If not in BIOS, do a CMOS Memory (BIOS) reset. If that doesn't help chances are it is defective and if that is the case a USB connected and Win 10 compatible Ethernet will have to be used.
How to do CMOS memory reset. Considering age, if the CR2032 coin cell battery has never been replaced its past time so buy a new battery. Power off PC, disconnect AC power and then hold power button in for 10 seconds to drain any power. Open case, locate the CR2032 battery on the motherboard. Remove battery, wait at least 5 minutes then install new battery. Close case, reconnect AC power and boot PC. Check to see if the Ethernet works. If not you are looking at the USB device mentioned.
