Vostro 240, installing SSD

Hi I am have installed a lovely new Samsung SSD in my Vostro 240. The PC is fine and working with the new disk.  However the Samsung software suggests the setup is not optimal because I have not set it to run in AHCI mode.  I have tried the BIOS which is A10 American Mega Trends. This is the latest for the PC on the dell website. SSD disks have been around for ages and I'm surprised I cannot run the optimal setup with my system. Any suggestions?

First of all do not switch to AHCI in the BIOS  if you are not going to install Windows after. Switching the BIOS to AHCI after Windows is installed will cause your system to fail to boot into Windows. This page from Samsung support explains the procedure. Also this page explains a little more detail.

Yeah, it says that but I would not worry.

Run Crystal-DiskMark and you will see the thru-put is fine.
