Vostro 230 ST, upgrade to GTX 460 possible?

that card has a makers name and a full model number, and comes in VAST sizes, no photo of yours or its key facts on stickers on it. sorry.  (google that name 460 posted, like 10 makers and 5 form factors besides tall.low profile and many lengths.

that card all by it  self uses 150watts (rtm you manual on card this is fact)

Slim Tower =ST.

what PSU you have , no idea. but sure does matter. on all DELL PCs for sure if PSU is small (watts)

 you can see the cards it uses are Low profile , if the 460 is not that be hopeless fit, (it must fit and not HIT)

then there is this , guess #1 on PSU

how can this work If that is inside? for sure , only 100watt remains. not good that. ever.

at the least,

IDK , your mobo socket ratings for watts. (hard to learn that,not HP empl)

IDK ,bios limits.

that 460 has  POWER AUX jack that you will not find cable to your PSU, so at least STRIKE 3 your out.

a low profile gtx 1050it might work but  IDK, for sure. 75w max it is. nor if TOO long,

What works in our tiny PC , will be a very short list,.... low profile 75watts not too long.

Thought that default 300W PSU is a start point for discussion here.
Anyway if you say that 75 W is the limit, I'll look for HD 6570  or HD 6670.

Vostro 230S  is a slim Model that would not have more than 240W power so this is a non starter.  Won't EVER work.
