Vostro 200 MT, upgrade sought
I run a Vostro 200 Mini Tower with Bios 1.0.16 and processor E2180 with 64-bit Windows 10 Professional, Build 1809. I have 4GB of DDR2 memory. My monitoring software shows the processor too frequently running at 100% so new tasks take ages to run. I have upgraded my 2 hard drives and this made a small gain in performance but I would like to know if any of the following options might help:-
(a) install a separate graphics card (any suggestions?);
(b) replace the processor - I have an Intel Q8200 Quad Core to hand but when I use it, nothing works including the Bios load;
(c) ask you for any better or best processor replacement.
In advance I thank you for your comments.

Not worth spending much on that machine. Getting too old to really do anything with. I have a few running Win10 but they are really not used for much. Replacing your HDD with an SSD (find one on sale for $20-30) will give you a the best bang for your buck and save up for a later model machine.

The processor running at 100 percent has to do with incompatibility/bug of the INTEL RST Driver with older DDR2 chipsets. Type Intel G33 Express ICH9R
You need to install the older driver as well as DOTNET 2.0 and 3.5.

You are CPU-bound. The motherboard does not support quad-cores, but you should be able to upgrade to a faster dual-core, like the E8500, which you can buy on eBay for a nominal sum.
That was the approach I took with two old office machines with similar CPUs last year. It worked out well.
