Vostro 200, hard disk drive failure
I have a Vostro 200 hich has worked perfectly well until I turned it on this morning to find this message.
Hard disk drive failure
diskette drive 0 seek failure
Press F1 to continue, F2 to enter set up
I know its an old subject but none of the suggestions have worked on mine so far.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Many thanks

Have you accepted that the hard drive is likely dead?
Only way to find out it to replace it with a known good drive and a complete reinstall.
You do have a full disc image backup that can be used with a new drive?

Thank you for your reply.
I am just a PC user and have no clue as to what has happened or why. I use this PC for work and all my hole small business is on it. If the HD is dead then I ill of course replace it however I wouldn't have a clue what to replace it with or how. I will however seek this knowledge. Are you saying that all my info is backed up somewhere on my system?

"Are you saying that all my info is backed up somewhere on my system?" NO. If the drive is truly "dead" then your data is lost, even if it were backed up on the drive (a bad idea) its lost. The proper way is to "image" (backup) the entire drive (all partitions) to a second (external) drive with a disc image program such as the free and popular "Macrium Reflect". In your case, with a business you should be making full disc images (backups) at least once a week and daily making backups of your user (business) data.
Disk backup is not for "if" its ever needed but for "when" its needed.
In your case, I would either have a tech visit or take it to a repair shop to confirm it is the drive and have a new one installed if it is the problem.
For future use, here is the link to the free version of Macrium Reflect:
