Updating BIOS
I have a VOSTRO 260 PC that sometimes freezes when I am logged out or have the screen locked. Online support suggests updating the BIOS as a first step to fix the problem. The Dell support site lists MS-A08.exe as the program to update the BIOS on my system. However, after responding 'yes' to the prompt for permission to make changes to my computer, it does not run.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

CMOs battery and clear CMOs are simple inexpensive steps to try. No promise they will fix issue.
Win 7 iso download link
burn iso to a dvd. After successful install you need a genuine Win 7 product key to activate it. Note 7 is not secure on internet. You are vulnerable as soon as you surf internet.

Not clear that bios update would solve freeze issue. First try clear CMOs settings and replace CMOs battery with a new one. Then try do a clean fresh install of Windows 10. If still freezes with a brand new OS install, then it may be motherboard chipset related. At that time can try flash bios. Flash stepwise to the next newer version and not jump to the newest. Flash bios using a bootable usb than doing it in Windows.

Thank you for your reply! My operating system is Windows 7. It was factory installed. So, I do not have an installation disk for it. Do you think replacing the CMOS battery will be sufficient, or is there a way that I can obtain an installation disk for Windows 7, so that I can do a fresh installation of it?
