Re-enable integrated video on Vostro 430a

Hi,

I have a Vostro 430a.  The last time the machine was used it had a PCIe card installed.  This has been removed.  When powering on,  the power light is sloid blue however I do not get any display from the the integrated video.

I have attempted to reset the CMOS using the CMOS jumper ..  https://www.manualslib.com/manual/553723/Dell-Vostro-430.html?page=10

What can do I next ?

I am assuming the integrated video has been disabled in the BIOS.  How can I reset without a video display ?

I should also note,  it has new HDD installed.  Attempting to install a new OS

Thanks

Are you able to get into the BIOS through the iGPU at all? You may have to hit the setup or BIOS key multiple times when you first turn on the system even if you don't see anything. Its normally F12 or F2. EDIT: its F2. Turn on the machine and hit F2 multiple times. You should see the BIOS regardless of what GPU is working.

What's a Vostro 430a? I only see Vostro 430 (without the "a") listed on Dell's Support site.

The only BIOS options for integrated graphics for the 430  are PCI/PCIE and PCIE/PCI. I don't see an Off option. And those  options are only used when there is an add-in video card to select either integrated (PCI) or add-in (PCIE) as the primary video controller.

But lets back up... Are you using the same kind of video output from the PC now with integrated graphics as you used when the add-in video card was installed, eg HDMI?

If not, that may be your problem. Most monitors are "dumb" because they don't automatically recognize and use the kind of video signal they're receiving. So you have to tell the monitor what to do...

Monitors usually have an On-Screen Display (OSD) that's accessed by pushing a button(s) on the monitor itself.  Open the OSD and look for the option to select the signal source and select the signal you're sending from the PC. Save the change in the OSD, and now reboot the PC.

Does that help?
