Memory upgrade for Vostro 3650

I'm considering upgrading the memory in my Vostro 3650 (currently 4GB) but the memory specifications in the user manual are kind of sparse.

The system has two memory slots - one with a 4GB DIMM and one empty. Presumably this means that I don't need to use matched pairs of DIMMs and can simply insert another suitable DIMM in the second slot to increase the memory?

Thanks in advance, for any help on this

V3650 memory spec

Up to 16GB 2 DIMM slots at 1600MHz

detailed spec:
Two UDIMM slots
2 GB, 4 GB, and 8 GB
1600 MHz DDR3L (Non-ECC)

So it has to be DDR3L. p.30/33 https://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/vostro-3650-desktop_owners-manual_en-us.pdf

it is advised to use matched pair even though there are only 2 DIMM slots.
