DELL VOSTRO 3670 SATA SSD M2 problem

I try to intall an m2 sata  ssd 128gb ( SAMSUNG PM881 M.2 128 GB SERIAL ATA III 3D TLC NAND NVME) but i cant. The disk is not working at this pc. I thik this is because it is sata III and not pcie. Is there a way to make it work (with an adapter or something);

Yes. 3670 supports 3.5/2.5 hdd.

Hard drive (HDD) 2.5 and 3.5 inch SATA AHCI, Up to 6 Gbps Up to 2 TB at 5400 RP

you just install the M.2 ssd in adapter and install the entire module as a 2.5 sata drive like a 2.5 hdd. Install OS on it like you do on hdd. It will boot.

The motherboard’s manual will specify exactly which type of operation the M.2 Slot is capable of, and whether or not it is compatible with both SATA and NVMe drives.

TYPE

FORM FACTOR

INTERFACE

CAPACITY

Solid-State Drive (SSD) M.2 2230 and 2280 PCIe PCIe 3 x4 NVME, Up to 32 Gbps Up to 512 GB

Unfortunately this motherboard is designed that its M.2 slot does not support sata drive.  There is no adapter that can convert M.2 sata into NVME.

That adapter works to convert your M.2 sata to 2.5 sata.  M.2 or 2.5 are just different form factor. It is the same sata controller on motherboard that eventually supports a sata device.

On the other hand this motherboard’s M.2 slot is not connected to sata controller.

The proper adapter should look like this one with a 2.5 form factor

The one in your link which looks like that one is compact size and not 2.5, although it has the correct sata connectors.
