adding m2 ssd to 3681sff

Question

I have new 3681sff with hdd.  will be adding a dell M2 2280 ssd.  have no info on hdd except factory installed and have only run initial setup on new pc.  I want to move all content of hdd to sdd and have sdd be drive C: boot disk.  What is best way to proceed?

clone each partition of hdd to ssd (both EFI and data partition) while using hdd as boot drive. Then disconnect hdd from pc to test whether pc can boot from ssd alone.
