adding IDE hdd DVD to Vostro 200
motherboard has no IDE port.
| Card,Planar,Desktop,200 Motherboard. |
I added a discrete IDE card in PCI slot
I can boot from DVD or HDD when each is connected
but I can not boot from DVD when both are connected
the card has IDE 1 and IDE 2 ports
should I make DVD master and hdd slave
or should I make both master connected to IDE 1 and 2 respectively

I used a USB DVD to install XP on IDE HDD. then connect DVD to IDE2 of add in card and make it master too. now XP sees both HDD and DVD.

It is a RAID controller. Is it possible for me to just plug it in and boot from DVD on one IDE and install OS on the other IDE?
