Add an SSD to Vostro 270s

My Vostro 270s is slow to boot for Windows 10 and Linux lately. Using an SSD for booting seems to be a solution.

Replacing an HDD with an SSD seems to be relatively easy, installing an SSD and copying the HDD content over.

I would like to keep the old HDD and add an SSD as some of the current Dell desktops offer the store configuration. Is that doable in DIY fashion?

Yes as the specs state that 1 HDD and 1 SATA SSD are compatible. But don't simply copy the contents, instead clone the HDD to the SSD. Then after you clone the HDD make sure to disconnect the HDD before you boot from the SSD the first time. If everything looks good then power down and reconnect the HDD. To clone use a program such as Macrium Reflect Free available here. And a good video describing the procedure is available at YouTube here.

Thanks for the information.

After reading through the information, I recognize that I didn't state what the SSD + HDD configuration in my mind. It isn't just one more storage but an optimization storage solution like what it is in the current Dell desktops with both SSD and HDD, the SSD stores the IO boot and frequently used software, and the HDD stores the rest. Based on usage, some software can move from one disk to the other.
