45 Dell Vostro 3888's have issue with secondary external DVI monitors

Hello,
The company has 45 Dell Vostro 3888's which all presented with the same exact issue starting around December 18th. It appears there was a Microsoft Update around this time that likely caused the issue.
Computers use two external monitors. One is VGA and the other DVI.

Problem: When the computer goes into sleep mode, the DVI connected monitor is no longer detected on wake up. Only the VGA monitor. If the 2nd monitor is disconnected, then restart the computer, then reconnect the monitor and restart again, it will usually come on. But once the computer goes to sleep for an extended period of time, it will not be recognized upon waking up.
If the DVI monitor is powered off, it also won't be seen again until restart.

A temporary workaround for now is to never allow them to go into sleep mode but this isn't ideal for this company.  Changing hardware isn't an option.

Again, this happens on all machines at this organization which happen to all be Vostro 3888's. I have attempted rolling back the MS updates, but this hasn't helped. I tried installing older version of the Intel UHD driver before the most recent one available on the Dell website but this did not help. I attempted installing the listed CRITICAL BIOS and CHIPSET updates but this has not helped either. All computers are managed via MDM and are running all the recent updates available.

I had read a post online on the MS Community website from a user who stated they had issues with Dell laptop and multiple displays after this update, and they were told it was being worked on.

Anyone have any suggestions on what we can do to fix this at the moment or any news about recent updates from Dell causing issues with external displays?

Windows 11 Professional Edition (Build 26100) (64-bit) (Release ID 24H2)
BIOS Version 2.35.1, Released 06/11/2025

I can pull any other information that may help. Please let me know.
The computers are no longer covered by warranty sadly.

I assume the DVI monitor is connected to VGA video port of 3888.

Windows update may have altered sleep state of your pc.  Find out if your pc is using standby S0 sleep. To check if your system supports it, open command prompt and type powercfg /a. If "Standby (S0 Low Power Idle) Network Connected" is listed, it is active.

Modern Standby (S0): This Windows state is known for being poorly supported by some hardware, often leading to a wake-up where the computer is on, but the monitor remains black.

If so, try Disable Modern Standby: If possible, switch to S3 sleep in BIOS.

S0 (Modern Standby): Partially active, connected, fast wake, higher power usage.

S3 (Legacy Standby): Active memory (RAM) only, CPU is off, no networking, lower power usage.

@redxps630 It appears these computers are on S3 sleep mode and some other modes are not supported.

The following sleep states are available on this system:
    Standby (S3)
    Hibernate
    Hybrid Sleep
    Fast Startup

The following sleep states are not available on this system:
    Standby (S1)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.

    Standby (S2)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.

    Standby (S0 Low Power Idle)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.

To know which sleep state your Windows PC is using,

open Command Prompt or PowerShell as an administrator and run the command powercfg /a. This will list available states

@redxps630 I already did that and posted the reply. It is S3.

@redxps630

C:\Windows\System32>powercfg /a
The following sleep states are available on this system:
    Standby (S3)
    Hibernate
    Hybrid Sleep
    Fast Startup

The following sleep states are not available on this system:
    Standby (S1)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.

    Standby (S2)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.

    Standby (S0 Low Power Idle)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.

That is the output from the command. I guess he will need to get on one of the computers and actually go into the BIOS to confirm.

Have you experimented changing to hibernate or hybrid sleep?

@redxps630 No but I will have him note what it is on and try another one to see if there is any difference.
