VNXe3200 and FC/iSCSI LUN Ownership
Just playing about with the VNXe3200 simulator and I can't see any way of setting the LUN ownership when using the LUN group option to create LUNs.
Is this a simulator issue or is this the same in a real situation? The advanced option to set this doesn't appear?
Anyone here got a VNXe3200 they can check this on for me.

Hi,
There is no way to set up LUN ownership at the time of initial LUN creation because VNXe3200 set LUN ownership in alternative manner between SPA and SPB.
Once LUN or LUN group is created, General tab-->show advanced shows SP Owner which can be changed.
In my lab, I created a LUN group having 3 LUNs and system created three LUNs alternatively on both SP as default owner.

But when you create a LUN without using the LUN Group option you can go into the advanced option and select the SP.
So why is it different?

All right! Great..
As mentioned above, VNXe automatically assigns LUN to both SP for load balancing.
Still if you think that you want to change SP ownership because one SP is very high utilized, You can certainly do that from advanced option.
By testing in lab, it takes immediate effect to trespass a LUN from one SP to other with no impact.

Actual I re-checked and you are right, there is no option to set the SP for a new LUN either. I must have seen the option when checking the details of the LUN as you say above.
My mistake sorry.
This begs the question though that should you change the SP ownership after initial creation or could this cause issues like it does on the VNX which recommends you use the LUN migration option if you need to do this? Maybe it's not an issue on the VNXe3200?
I think we should be allowed to choose the SP for each LUN at creation time so we can load balance them correctly especially if changing the SP later is not recommended.

I am checking this in my lab environment and I don't see any option to select SP owner while creating LUN.
Probably, simulator has a different option.
Can you share simulator information and download location for me to check?
