VNXe3100 cannot obtain management IP address

Hi,

I have tried everything to assign an IP address to the management port.  Here is what I have done.

1.  Used a paper clip and press the button with the two arrows pointing at each other for 5 secs.  Tried the Unity Connection tool.  nothing.

2.  Used a paper clip and pressed the button with the two arrows pointing at each other for 10 secs. Tried the Unity Connection tool. Nothing.

3.  setup a Windows 2016 server with DNS and DHCP (Dynamic DNS enabled).   Put both GB ports for SP A and B on a switch along with my Server.  Nothing.

4.  Use the Unity Connection tool to manual set the IP using a USB drive.  Did not work.

On the back of the EMC storage, the service lights are constantly blinking from blue to amber.  From what I read if you receive a IP address the service lights will go blue.

Is there any other way to set the 3100 to factory default if you cannot access the system????

Thanks,

Carl

Hello Carl,

Are you getting the same errors from both SP’s? Have you tried to find the management ip as stated in this kb? https://dell.to/3Bm7LGi

I think my system is a 3200.   Its an EMC BPE25.  From the google search is says 3200.  Sorry for the confusion.

Sam,

The same error is on both SP's.  Where is the serial connection on the 3100 located?  I do not see any DB-9 connection on the back.

Thanks,

Carl

Hello Carl,

A VNX3200 has a different process. Here is the process for vnx3200. https://dell.to/3BlquSj

So I am able to connect to both SP A and B on 128.221.1.252 and .253.  But when I run the impi tool ipmitool.exe -I lanplus -C 3 -U console -P -H 128.221.1.252 sol activate

The unity serial number is incorrect.   Where do I find the Serial Number of the system for the Serial-over-LAN connection?  I have tried several on the back of the 3200 but nothing worked.

Thanks,

Carl

Hello Carl,

The system serial is located on a tag on the rear of the system.  Here is a link to a video, I would try to connect using the steps in the video to see if you get any change
