VNXe 3150 / 2.4.4.22283 / Email alerts
Is there anyway to get email alerts sent to me from my unit?
I can't seem to get alerts sent to my email anymore. The Unisphere system doesn't really support hosted email servers, like Office365. Connect EMC also seems to be broken, or I've trashed the settings.
There doesn't seem to be a lot you can do to in the alerts section of the OS.
There is a, "Enable ConnectEMC" checkbox, which I have checked. It also asks for the connectEMC SMTP server, which I don't know and can't find anywhere. I have relay.appriver.com plugged in now.
The from field in the general preferences has a from email address you can plug in. I used my email. Not sure if that's correct either. In the general field it says,
"When sending alert and ConnectEMC emails, you must specify the From field in order to comply with potential local email policies."
In the SMTP server area, it says, "Specify SMTP network settings". I'm assuming it wants our SMTP URL, but that wouldn's mean anything to SMTP.Office365.com, considering it doesn't say anything about ports, or credentials.
I just want to get notices in case a drive fails, but there doesn't seem to be anyway of doing this. In the past, I think emails routed through EMC, which is now Dell.

you need a SMTP server that accepts EMail without authentification - like a Unix sendmail
for connectEMC problems I would suggest to open an SR with support

Is there a relay service I can use to send unauthenticated emails?
I'm not on a support contract with EMC because my device was obsoleted when Dell took over, so support is out of the question.
I've done some research on installing an SMTP relay client, but I'm a little unclear as to how this might work.
