VNX5400 Unified: Celrera_vnx5400-primary host state Faulted

Hi,

I see Celerra_vnc5400-primary host (which relates to File part of the VNX connected to SP) with status Faulted

the connection status = Active and initiators are UP (4  FC paths between SP and data movers)

i see the hosts is linked to 6 LUNs with strange status in unisphere.

in Storage Groups / ~filesystem SG : Properties: LUN name LUN 63994 - LUN 63999 ,  ID = N/A, Drive type = N/A, Host ID = 0 - 5

In Hosts / the host's properties :

Lun Status tab : Surrent SP and Default SP = N/A

Storage tab = Lun Name = 0 for all 6 LUNs, and Drive type = N/A

Activa/Active tab  = Lun Name = 63994 - 63999, Optimal Path = Unknown

in control station these are ids 1-6, while 9-10 are luns created for me by 'disk provisioning wizard for File' and they look fine in Storage Group and Host's properties

[nasadmin@vnx5400-primary ~]$ nas_disk -l
id inuse sizeMB storageID-devID type name servers
1 y 22527 CKM00143501947-2007 CLSTD root_disk 1,2
2 y 11263 CKM00143501947-2008 CLSTD root_ldisk 1,2
3 y 2047 CKM00143501947-2009 CLSTD d3 1,2
4 y 2047 CKM00143501947-200A CLSTD d4 1,2
5 y 4095 CKM00143501947-200B CLSTD d5 1,2
6 y 65535 CKM00143501947-200C CLSTD d6 1,2
9 n 848101 CKM00143501947-0010 CLSAS d9 1,2
10 y 848101 CKM00143501947-0011 CLSAS d10 1,2

how to make the host status normal ?

(I am not using File part of the VNX (yet) so do not know if NAS works at all.)

Hello lukaszko,

If you look at your VNX5400 are there any fault lights lit?  If you look in unisphere from both SP’s do u see a fault listed under VNX or Celerra.  Is this a new deployment or has the system been installed for awhile?

Hi,

this VNX system was not in use for some time, taken from old project and now being prepared for new project, (so i do not care for existing data, if any)

old network cabling was disconnected from File part (blades) towards the network, and only FC cabling from Data Movers to SPA/SPB left. because of cabling system raises number of errors with CIFS/NTP/DNS reachability problems.

also 2 or 3 disks are reported as faulted.

i have not much experience with File part of the VNX, but the Celerra host faulty state seems wrong.

Best Regards

Hello lukaszko,

Since the system was not being used for awhile I would recommend that you go through the install process again to make sure that all is set correctly.  Here is a link to EMC solve and you can generate the procedures for installing your VNX. https://dell.to/3dResHg
