VNX5400: HTTP 499 code
Hi,
I keep getting a code of 499 when trying to access a VNX5400; this doesn't appear to be documented anywhere so I don't know how to resolve it.
I have tried accessing it via the following routes:
- Using the XML API: HTTP Post (to authenticated) and Get (for information about target initiators).
- Using the Unisphere REST API (I didn't know if this would work but I thought I'd try): HTTP Get for 'basicSystemInfo' and for 'loginSessionInfo'.
- Using cURL on the Linux Command Line: HTTP Get for the Unispere REST API's 'basicSystemInfo' and 'loginSessionInfo'.
- Using the Firefox browser: HTTP Get for the Unispere REST API's 'basicSystemInfo'.
For all of these I get the same response:
- HTTP Header Code of 499 and message on this of "Unautorized user access. Check User/Password/Scope"
- A HTML Webpage saying access is denied.
I can't find anywhere in the documentation that tells me what an error code of 499 actually means. The fact that it is consistent suggests there's something not right on the server. Also, the fact this still happens on the 'basicSystemInfor' requests, which according to the documentation doesn't need authentication, suggests that it's not actually an authentication issue.
Why is the server returning this so consistently? Any ideas?
Many thanks,

VNX doesnt have a REST API implemented
The REST API is only on the newer VNXe2 and Unity systems
The VNX file side has an XML API - a programmers guide for it should be available from the support website

I have tried the XML API (see the first bullet of things I tried) and this also gave a 499 HTTP Status Code.
I haven't found any documentation for what this status code means, so I'm not sure what the problem is and how to resolve it...
Do you know what this HTTP status code means?
On the REST API, I worried this would be the case, but I thought I'd give it a go and hope I got lucky...
Many thanks,

Just checking again; does anyone know what a HTTP 499 code means from a VNX5400?
I've read all the documentation I can find and I can't find anything that tells me what this means and what I can do about it.
Many thanks,

Hi,
What are you doing when you get the error? It looks like the error is for the client closing the request.

Hi,
Thanks for the response.
I'm making a request, via a HTTP Post using an authenticated session, query for information on target initiators (page 38 in the "XML API Programmers Guide", release 7.1 revision A01).
I've seen that that is the meaning of a HTTP 499 by Nginx server; does the VNX use an Nginx server?
Many thanks,

@mhornsey - did you ever solve this issue? I am experiencing a similar issue with a VNX5400
