VNX5200: Unable to access the web interface.

Hello everyone,

I'm having an issue with my VNX5200. I can't get access to the web interface via IE. When i try to connect to the web page it just won't load. IE says that it cannot load the page. The address of SP A is valid. I tried reloading the VNX management service via https://<SPA/SPB IP>/setup but this didn't help because this page is also unavailable.

The list of procedures which i tried to do:

1) Reload the management service via https://<SPA/SPB IP>/setup:
This didn't work. I could not access the web page;

2) Reload the management service via Navisphere CLI:
This didn't work. I could not connect to the VNX. The following error occurred:
'A network error occurred while trying to connect.' xxx.xxx.xxx.123'.
Message: Error occurred because connection refused.' Unable to establish a secure connection to the Management Server;

3) Connect to the VNX5200 via Unishphere Service Manager:
This didn't work.. When i try to connect to the VNX5200 i receive the following error:
The specified system is not reachable or the certificate on the system could not be validated;

4) Used the following command -  telnet 172.20.10.145 6389:
The port is available;

5) Used the following command - naviseccli security -certificate -setlevel low
Still won't be able to connecto to the VNX5200

What else can i try to do in my situation ?

Hello MaxPower1,

Do you know the current OE version of your VNX5200? Were their any errors on the system prior to trying to access the web gui? Here are a few links to some kb’s that maybe of assistance.

Hello MaxPower1,

Here is what those two links state.

VNX: Navisphere CLI error: Error occurred because connection refused. Unable to establish a secure connection to the Management Server. (User Correctable) Audience Level: Customer

Summary: This article describes a potential reason for this error to occur while trying to run navi CLI commands to the VNX Storage Processors.

This article does not apply to VNX5200

Symptoms

  • If there's an alert saying the SP is unmanaged (Unisphere can no longer manage SP), make sure that issue is resolved first.
  • You tried restarting the management server and the network error is still showing up.
  • For details on how to resolve an SP being unmanaged, or the steps on how to restart the management server, check this KB

While running naviseccli commands to a storage processor, a network error occurs:

C:\Users\user>naviseccli -h <SP_IP_address> -user <username> -password <password> -scope 0 getagent
A network error occurred while trying to connect: 'xx.xxx.xx.x'.
Message : Error occurred because connection refused. Unable to establish a secure connection to the Management Server.

Cause

Administration Access Restrictions (IP Filtering) were set up by a privileged account.

Resolution

*** Please make sure the IP being used is NOT the "Control Station" IP address instead ***
*** If so, try with the SPA's IP address ***

If you have IP Filtering on admin access enabled:
  • Add the IP address of the client you're running the naviseccli commands from to the IP filter list.
  • Or, disable IP filtering

For reference, Administration Access Restrictions enables only specific client IPs to be able to issue management commands or access management GUI (Unisphere Manager or USM). This is done through the setup page of the storage processor (https://<SP_IP>/setup), under the Set Administration Access Restrictions menu.

Check KB 320438: How to configure Administration access restriction from GUI and CLI?

The second Link

Unisphere USM: USM for VNX Array Login Fails with "The specified system is not reachable, or the certificate on the system could not be validated" Audience Level: Customer

Summary: Unisphere Service Manager (USM) for VNX array login fails with "System is not reachable, or the certificate on the system could not be validated" (Dell Correctable)

This article does not apply to VNX5200

Symptoms

When accessing USM for VNX array in USM connect screen, after entering IP address for the hostname and clicking Connect, encountered the below error message:
The specified system is not reachable or the certificate on the system could not be validated."
Unisphere was previously accessible for the same Array from the same System.

Generated self-signed certificates for both the SPs, but the issue persists.

Cause

The Java certificate was expired. Also, the Java version in use was JRE Standard Edition 1.6 which is not the latest version.

Resolution

Removed the older version of Java and install the latest compatible version.USM was accessible after new Java version installation.

The 32-bit JRE is required, even on 64-bit systems.

Additional Information

Follow the below path to check the certificate validity details:

Go to Java Control Panel Security Tab > Manage certificates > Certificate Type > Details

I guess your SP working in a degrade state. Pls. check the SP LED whether constantly blue.  When the SP fault LED off, then the SP is working normally.

If it worked in degrade state, you need to find the root cause and then fix it and bring it to normal node. Then you can access SP by web.
